LINKSchering-Plough Corp. received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market Temodar as a brain-cancer treatment in adults. In a press release Wednesday, the drug company, which produces temozolomide under the Temodar brand, said capsules of the drug are approved for use along with radiotherapy to treat adults who were recently diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a form of malignant brain cancer. Temodar may then be used for maintenance.
Schering-Plough also received final approval for the drug as a treatment for adult patients with refractory anaplastic astrocytoma, or AA, which is another form of brain tumor.
